I am reading ‘The Winter King’ for probably about the 10th time at present. I just can’t avoid the utter brilliance of that Warlord series in particular, but have read pretty much everything you have published since i first was given a copy of ‘Sharpe’s Rifles’ in 1995!

The one thing that I can’t avoid thinking is that this series would make a fantastic TV or film adaptation (I believe TV would be better to allow the detail manifest in the book to translate to the screen), and I have even in me own amateurish way begun to devise a script and screenplay for it! Just for your assurance, it probably won’t get any further as I did it over 7 years ago.

I can anticipate your answer to the question of whether any consultation/discussion has taken place about this type of series being adapted could be quite a short one, and you’d likely be bund by an NDA, but is there anything you/your team or publisher could do to push for this to happen?

I think of all representations of Arthur, the Warlord Chronicles are by far the most real, relevant, and the most visually satisfying ever manuscripted (sorry to Chretien, Malory, Tennyson et al; but it’s true), and all filmed representations of Arthur have been pretty second-rate to be brutally honest.

Putting this great series of novels on TV has to be done. Do you envisage any opportunity for that at all?
