I have been a fan of Sharpe from before he was young.  I just finished the series adding India for the first time and rereading Spain.  I have 2 questions; first,other readings indicate that at that time women had few rights, when his wife took his money and set herself up in London, he could have just walked into the house and taken over, he was her husband.  Second; at the end of Waterloo he was a Lt Col and given command of the battalion.  Did not that lead to a pension of half pay such as in the Navy?
