Dear Mr Cornwell,

Thank you for keeping me entertained by your books for hundreds of commuting hours. I have recently been rereading the Sharpe series and spotted a comment that 1 in 20 officers were promoted from the ranks in the British Army. Why is it that Sharpe has yet to encounter any of these. Have you ever thought of writing a character with a similar background to Sharpe and perhaps have them vie for glory/promotion. Lastly what a great creation Hakeswill is! Any chance of slipping him to a book that takes place before Sharpe’s Company/Enemy?
