Mr. Cornwell,

My significant other is a type of reader that will never read a book that does not have a “happy ending,” regardless how good the story is. Needless to say, she has not touched any of your books, and her argument is that she reads to be entertained and to escape the facts of real life we live from day to day.

I on the other end, will only read books with a good story and are written in a way that I believe is entertaining to me. I accept that fact that the world can never be perfect, and sadness is the yang of happiness or vice versa.

What are your thoughts on these types of readers as a writer?
