I was reading The Fort and wondered, could John Welch be Richard Sharpe’s father? I can see a resemblance between the two. You mention that Welch joined a merchant fleet at Bristol, I imagine there is a good chance that it would have stopped in London? Keep up the good work, I would love to read some more Sharpe in the future. Regards, Dan
