For the benefit of your Boston fan I thought I would suggest a visit to Bath, which is only a 2 hour train journey, departing from Paddington station. Your reader could explore the Roman Baths and fabulous Georgian architecture, Alternatively he could take a 1-day coach tour taking in Salisbury (with it’s beautiful cathedral), Old Sarum, Stonehenge and the afore-mentioned Bath.
