Just finished reading The Pagan Lord and wanted to thank you. You have unwittingly done me a great service. Having restored our Saxon barn built by Aefflaed, sister to Ethelflaed wide of Edmund I was disappointed that the oak I felled and used in the restoration came from my fathers farm at Nedging not Alpheton (named after Aefflaed). Your book encourage me to re-read the Ango Saxon Chronicles and I found that she had left as part of her will her lands at Nedging to a Kinswoman. I had therefore unwittingly still felled oak from her lands for use in restoring her barn for wedding uses. You have no idea how good this makes me feel. I can’t wait till you reach this stage in the Saxon history and keep monitoring your books in expectation. What with the Battle of Maldon and her sister trying to murder her step sons who were heirs to the throne and so much else seems like a great plot.
