Hello Mr. Cornwell
I’d just like to thank you for all the work you’ve put into your novels. Growing up in rural Atlantic Canada there was little exposure in regards to military or European history. Our small library received a dog eared copy of Sharpes Rifles, and due to a cataloging error, placed it in the youth fiction section. I was young, around eight or so, and had been shoe horned into presenting a book report to my class. I finished the book in a weekend, and was eager to share Sharpe and Harper’s triumph with my class. Unfortunately the exciting cavalry charges, dismemberment and swordplay I described earned me a stern reprimand. From then on however I grew up piecing together Sharpe and Harper’s adventures in no particular order, either from used book stores, neighbouring county libraries. It was thanks to your work, and the rich narrative you created, that I grew to love this era of history. I greatly look forward to your non-fiction work on Waterloo, I’ve always had a soft spot for Sir
Arthur Wellesley’s exploits.
Regards.
