Just to say how I enjoy your books on the Saxon Tales. I have just read the Last Kingdom, and pleasantly surprised to read about the death of Ubba at the hands of Uhtred. My home town in England is Weston-super-Mare, and I was brought up on the story of the battle of Cannington, where the Viking Leader Ubba was killed. You may well know about the next fact, but about 4 miles from Weston on the old road to Bridgwater, is a Public House, called Hobb’s Boat. The sign depicts a Viking ship. Apparently, Hobb, was a local name for UBBA. This Pub is quite close to the River Axe, which goes up towards Cheddar, and another story I was told, was that the Vikings sailed up this river. Cannington, is about 30 minutes away, hope I might have added a little info for you. Once again, thanks for such great reading
