Dear Mr. Cornwell:
I can never wait for your books to be published in the U.S. so I grab them from home as soon as they become available. Currently, I am reading Waterloo (The Empty Throne is sitting on the sofa) and I was intrigued to read about Franz Leiber. It turns out that one of the buildings on the original University of SC campus is Leiber College. I’ve been at the USC for twenty-six years and never given it a though until now, but it turns out it is named after Franz Leiber. It’s been suggested (but not proven as far as I know) that Marshal Ney also came to South Carolina after the war which I find particularly interesting. And if you are ever passing through Columbia on your way to Charleston, we have PG Tips in my office on the third floor of the Koger Center.
