Dear Mr. Cornwell,

I was just listening to your interview with John Miller (http://www.nationalreview.com/media/betweenthecovers).  To my delight I find that your new book is about AEthelflaed.  I’ve been teaching Western Civilization for decades, but this fall term was the first time I’ve ever discussed AEthelflaed in my class.  I had wondered if I had placed too much emphasis on this very obscure ruler.  You’ve made it clear I was right to credit her — along with her father — with the making of England.  (I am afraid I botched the pronunciation of her name.)  I can’t wait to read your book — and will do so immediately.  (I also thought you might like to know that, at least, in this remote corner of Arkansas, in a very small Baptist college, Queen AEthelflaed was given-her-due.)

Respectfully,

Kenneth M. Startup
