I would just like to say how much I am enjoying the last Kingdom. I am an ex Royal Marine and was based in Poole for 7 years and my speciality was Landing Craft. I know all the waters well around Poole, River Wareham, The Needles and I know how rough the sea gets off Poole headland. Reading the piece where Uhtred can see the Vikings being blown onto the headland, brings back memories of me taking Landing Craft past the same place and dodging the breakers of the “Dragon waters” I called them, tossing the flat bottomed metal shoe box of a boat through the races. I am enjoying it immensely and look forward to the hero’s further adventures.
