Is Sharpe’s father Jean-Paul Marat?  He lived in England from 1765-1776, which would just be long enough for Sharpe to be born in 1777.

The “irony” being due to his skin condition, women did not swoon at his feet, unlike Sharpe and of course being a proponent of the Revolution, which Sharpe was fighting against.
