Dear Sir

Even though i’ve accepted there’s gonna be no more Sharpes (with a heavy heart) I’m still going to ask you further questions about him and his guests.

I read somewhere, pretty sure (without checking) was in  one of your forewords that you regretted killing off Hakeswill.  Was it as simple as ‘good villians’?   Or did a tiny part of you feel that you could have (at some point) allied Hakeswill and Ducos?  They had a mutual hatred towards the same person, although Ducos may have felt Hakeswill was beneath him?!

Out of curiosity have you read Herman Wouk’s Winds of War/War and Remembrance books?  If so what did you think of them?  I find it amazing how one character (naval officer) somehow manages to meet virtually every leader of the ‘major’ countries during WW2 and makes a big impression on all of them :-)
