Hello Mr Cornwell,
I am a massive fan of your work, especially the Sharpe series.
I am currently re-reading all the books in chronological order & as I write am halfway through the last book, Sharpe’s Devil.
I was somewhat surprised to read that Sharpe was “seeing his very first sea fight”in the battle between the Spanish frigate, the ‘Espiritu Santo’ ,& the American whaler, the ‘Mary Starbuck’, after all, he had been at Trafalgar!….
I realise that Trafalgar was written after Devil & it must be particularly difficult writing new books set in between books that have already been written.
I was just wondering, for my own peace of mind, if you could concoct an explanation that would somehow allow the statement to true in view of the fact that Sharpe had already fought in one of the biggest “sea fights” in history?
Regards,
Eddie
