Mr. Cornwell,

I cannot express in enough words my supreme appreciation for your works! I have read most of your them and have found them incredibly enjoyable (I am working my way through Sharpe for the 5th time)! Thank you for all your tireless work to bring some amazing stories to life in a very unique and enjoyable way!

I am in the military, a Captain in the US Army Field Artillery (alas not infantry…), and I found your description of Sharpe and Harper’s relationship hit very close to home for the relationship that most young Officers strive to have with their Enlisted counter-parts. I attempted in a lot of ways to mold my own relationships with my NCOs after the relationship Sharpe developed with Harper. In fact I found the relationship to be so spot on I thought you must have served yourself.

Again, I would just like to thank you for the many years of enjoyment your works have brought to me personally! They have encouraged me to do a lot of research on my own and explore multiple non-fiction accounts of the battles and Napoleonic Wars in general (including your own of course)! I think some of my favorite parts of your books are the Author’s Notes where you describe the parts that you added and give credit to the real life heroes of the battles you describe!

Very Sincerely and Respectfully Yours,

Nicholas W. Bowers
