Sharpie’s father,

Please answer this summary::

Legendary….definitely fictional character but not one of yours

Likely around at the time Richard was conceived

a rogue of no great consequence or notoriety

a smuggler

Possibly dabbled in tobacco smuggling

Has a French sounding name??

8 letters in his surname

there is some ironic link with Richard and his father’s name or profession?

Regards

Danny

For the benefit of us Sharpe fans that are keen to uncover the identity of Sharpe’s father I would like to confirm what I believe are the clues and facts you’ve been good enough to give us so far.

He’s not a soldier

He’s not of royal blood

He’s a rogue, specifically a smuggler (Take you out, put me in and a horse appears in this happy person! = smuggler)

As far as you know he’s never rode a horse but he might have. (more of a sailor perhaps).

He probably died when Sharpe was very young.

THINK IRONY (could this mean he’s French or from South Essex?)

He’s not appeared in any of your books as yet.

He’s almost definitely fictional (I assume you mean he appears in a work of fiction but could possibly be based on a real life person).

So one last question regarding those last 2 points. Although he’s not appeared in your books I assume he has appeared in another authors work. So does Sharpe’s father appear in any of the following series of books: Hornblower, Jack Aubrey, Bolitho, or Lord Ramage?
