Hello Mr Cornwell

I have been doing some research on the Portuguese cazadores battalions of the Peninsular War, and I’m struggling to figure out what weapons these were armed with. It is my understanding that at a very early stage they were armed with muskets, and only the elite companies (atiradores) were armed with Baker rifles.

Do you know if eventually the whole battalions were armed with rifles? I’d expect at least the most accomplished ones to have been fully equipped with Bakers by the end of the war but couldn’t find any evidence on that.

Thank you very much for your work. It was great to meet you last year in London, it’s a shame I won’t be in Guildford to attend the book festival next month.
