Dear Bernard

i realise Sharpe has been delayed a little, and i’m wondering if you are struggling with a plot? i know you dont like people sending you things like this,Plots and Character etc,  because  then there’s the sticky issue of Copywrite etc, but i thought i should chance it….

Sharpe’s Nap

Richard Sharpe and the Nice, Peaceful, Afternoon, 1811

Chapter 1

“Anything happening out there, Sergeant Harper?” growled the tall, scarred Rifle Officer.

“No, sir, its all quiet!”

“Right..so, no French Dragoons? No Polish Lancers? No Voltigeurs? ”

“No, sir! Not a dicky bid!”

“Right…er…i’m, going for a nap, Pat! Wake me in a few hours!”

“I will, sir!”

It was a nice nap!

It was Sharpe’s nap!

The end

There you go! With plots like that i should be the Best-selling Author!  i know you sometimes feel a bit guilty putting Sharpe and Harper constantly in the most dangerous place on Earth! So, there’s a quiet day for the boys!

Joking aside, this only occurred to me the other day, but what exactly does Sharpe “do” when he’;s not on Duty? He”s not an avid reader, he doesn’t play an instrument and its hard to imagine him scowling his way through a few rounds of whist with Frederickson, Hogan  and Leroy…So, what does Sharpe do?
