Hi Bernard,

Having read most, if not all of your Last Kingdom series of books, I have been inspired to learn more about Anglo-Saxon history. I am particularly interested in Alfred’s journey from Athelney to Edington. Many historians believe the battle site took place on the hills above Edington with Guthrum coming out to meet Alfred after resting at Bratton Camp hillfort.

>From your extensive study of the period I would be grateful to know what your particular opinion is regarding the battle and this important turning point in the history of Wessex.

Many thanks in anticipation of your reply.

Kind regards. Bob
