Hi Bernard,

This is a bit of a niche and very specific question about your writing, but I’ve noticed that particularly in the Grail Quest books and Azincourt, you write with a much more loosely defined point of view than writers are often advised to. What I mean is that while Thomas is undoubtedly the main character of the Grail Quest novels, there are scenes written from the POV of Jeanette, or Sir Simon Jekyll, or other major characters.

As an aspiring writer (though I hate that title), I’ve often been warned against this by writers I have spoken with for a range of reasons, but I don’t find it at all a problem in your writing. My question is, how do you balance these changes of POV, or is it more of a question of choosing the most appropriate/convenient POV for a particular scene that is necessary for the story?

Thanks for the many hours of entertainment,

Hugh.
