Just wondered if you’d read Michael Wood’s thoughts on the location of Brunanburh.  I attended a lecture at Liverpool Uni a few years back where he made a convincing case for Barnsdale (could there be a more Yorkshire name?).  Hopefully the link below takes you to the relevant article – Brunanburh is mentioned later on.  I’m guessing this battle might form the “big finish” for our favourite Northumbrian hero.
