Dear Mr. Cornwell

I have enjoyed many of your books over the years and am always interested when the plot wanders into Essex as that is where I was born (I now live in Australia). I was wondering if you know of or have been tempted to incorporate the town of Ithancester into your work?

I guess it would be most relevant to the Last Kingdom series. Much like Dunwich, Ithancester  was lost to the sea it was believed to be somewhere off Bradwell. My Grandfather was one of the last fishermen from Tollesbury and Brightlingsea to fish commercially under sail and said that occasionally bits of masonry would come up in the trawls off Bradwell. He said the old fishermen used to call it the lost city  and claimed it there had been several churches and a coin mint.

Anyway thanks for all your books over the years I have enjoyed them greatly, I bought Sword of Kings today and the map in the front reminded me of the lost Saxon town.

Kind Regards

Bill Harman
