Hello Mr. Cornwell,

I’ve read a few of your books now and like many others, enjoyed reading them. Thank you for your work!

I’m currently reading Redcoat and am enjoying considering it from England’s perspective. I live in the US and as a pastor, I’ve wondered how difficult it would have been in that day – to teach certain passages like Romans 13, and 1 Peter 2, which call us to submit to the governing authorities. To teach these passages faithfully may have  meant being labeled a “loyalist.” How difficult that would have been! The Sons of Liberty may not have approved.

Your book brings this out, and Joshua 24:15, for a pastor, would mean preaching that not only should we submit to the King, but love and pray for him as well (1 Tim 2:1-2) – a dilemma that I don’t think many consider. Your book has given me further opportunity to consider this.

Thank you for this book, and I hope that you are well and safe during this trying time in the world.

Love, in Christ
