Hi Bernard,

It’s been a long time since I read the Starbuck books and I am interested to find out how they finish (if you ever get back to them). I’ve seen you mention how Starbuck is so similar to Sharpe and that’s one of the reasons you haven’t finished them but I was wondering if there was another reason too. I always felt that Starbuck’s story couldn’t end well for him, something that would make a change from your usual characters.

Could that have any impact on the reason you haven’t finished his story yet? Would his story have to end badly for him? I would still enjoy reading his story, even if it doesn’t end well for him, it might even make a nice dramatic change. I hope you get around to finishing them! Thank you.

Kind regards,

George

I have enjoyed all your books but could you please say whether you are going to return to the Starbuck Chronicles. I’ve just finished reading each one for the third time and would love to know what happened to the erstwhile Rebel.

Thank you.

My son & I love your books, were anxiously awaiting the next book in the Saxon chronicles/the last kingdom series.

We also love the Starbucks chronicles,  do you plan to continue that, because would love to see the end of that series as well?

I have very much enjoyed your books starting rather inevitably with the Saxon Stories, then Warlord and Grail Quest, and now in turn, Starbuck has been a great character to follow.

At the end of Bloody Ground, you tell us that “Starbuck will march again”. I also read that you have considered reviving him and really want to encourage you to believe that there is considerably more mileage in his story. I know that currently we are in turbulent and changing times, and that Starbuck served on the wrong side of history, but Starbuck’s personal journey as it appears to be developing, may actually to some degree reflect current concerns. On a more personal and selfish note I would be keen to hear more about the development of his relationship with Julia Gordon and his friendship with Lassan etc. etc.

Just a thought and, in any case, many, many thanks for all the great stories you have brought to readers and viewers around the world.

Best wishes,

Simon Fletcher
