Hi,
Several years ago as a member of The Battlefields Trust I enjoyed a walk with Prof Stephen Harding and the historian Paddy Griffith around Storeton Wood on the Wirral and we had a right good speculation on the battle as well as visiting other Viking sites such as Thingwall and Thurstaston. I kind of had this walk in my head as I read your utterly compelling finale of your Warrior series. Not the first time I had visited places that later appeared in your novels ( Rocester, Poole’s Cavern, Bratton Camp etc.) and it is always fun to see how you have used real places to influence your plotting. Just writing to say Thank You for your always gripping stories. And also for giving Paddy Griffith ( speciality Peninsular Wars ) such conniptions whenever I discussed Sharpe with him. Great fun, sadly missed. Look forward to the next one.
Yours sincerely,
Gary
