Dear Sir:

I recently finished your trilogy on King Arthur.  I liked your dystopian description of England.  I liked your descriptions of Merlin and Nimue.  I would do my best to stay on their good side.  The main reason I’m writing to you is I have my own theory as to where and when Excalibur was made.  One of the origins of the legends of magical swords such as Excalibur was meteorite Iron.  The heat of reentry through the atmosphere would have smelted and refined the iron to a very high purity.  A sword made from meteorite iron would have been much harder and sharper than the much cheaper and softer weapons and armor being made at the time.  There is an ancient undated iron meteorite strike near Baydon, England approx. 55 miles west of London.  My theory is someone found that meteorite iron, dug it up, and forged it into the sword Excalibur.  The lady of the lake was the wife or daughter of the blacksmith who forged Excalibur.  I hope that you like this possible theory.  Have a good day.
