Dear Mr. Cornwell:

(Spoiler Alert)

Uhtred has become my favorite character in all of literature. I truly love the Last Kingdom series and War Lord, which I just finished listening to, was perhaps my favorite. I was truly touched when Uhtred made up with his oldest son Uhtred. I literally had tears running down my face as I listened to Uhtred described that moment in the book where he made up with his son. Of course I was devastated a few minutes later when Uhtred was killed and can only imagine the grief Uhtred might have felt when he discovered his son was dead. For me, through your writing, Uhtred takes on a life of his own and I find myself relating to him as if he we a real person. For me, the moment when Uhtred made up with his son, was  one most profound and emotional moments of the entire series. I am not sure why it resonated with me that way, but it prompted me to write to you. Thank you for the countless hours of entertainment. Throughout the series I have laughed and I have cried. I have been mesmerized by Uhtred and Finnan’s exploits, and have marveled at their cunning and the imaginative ways they use to get out of their hopeless predicaments. I can only hope that Uhtred and Finnan have one more grand adventure in store for us. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

Sincerely ,

Eric Munoz, MD
