It is strange how you forget things as the years go by, I have read all of the Sharpe novels in mostly publishing order, but it did not start out that way.

I read your second novel Sharpe’s Eagle first in a readers digest condensed book lent to me by a friend. If not for him it may have been many years before i discovered your writings.

I was reminded of this when i looked in one of my book cupboards and found “Eagle” there but could not see Sharpe’s Rifles and wondered why.

By that time, approximately you were publishing i think Sharpe’s Honour which was my first chance to buy one of your novels in hardcover as i have been doing ever since. I had to catch up on previous novels by purchasing them in soft cover.

I suppose i could get them from Ebay somewhere but they would not be in the condition that i would have preferred. Also the print would be easier on these old eyes of mine.

Thank you for replying to my previous missive about the English Civil War, i shall just have to be satisfied for the time being by your excellent back catalogue, some of which i have still to read!
