Dear Mr. Cornwell,
When our local library finally opened it’s doors for indoor browsing again, I roamed the bookshelves and discovered the first of “The Grail Series”. I’m through the 2nd book and I’m hooked. However, your historical fictions have done something for me that my husband has been trying to do for years, i.e. get me interested in my truly fascinating genealogy which my husband has been working on for years. He’s been insisting for a long time that I should look more closely at all the work he has done because of the historical connections.. On one line he was able to trace ancestors back to the 1st century in Norway and Sweden. Since he is Jewish and can only go back a few generations in his family line, he decided to focus on mine instead. So, one of the many juicy items he discovered is that I am related to the Viking Rollo who became the first Duke of Normandy in 911. He has connected this up to the present, and the fact is that many of my ancestors could populate the characters in your books, and my DNA is almost entirely UK, and northern France going back to Viking conquerors. So thanks for making history so alive. I don’t think I my husband would like all the blood and gore in the stories, but I personally appreciate how you make the times and events so real.
Warmest Rgds,
Bridget McCoy
