first of all I love your books and am avid reader of the Sharpe series particularly. I know you pride yourself on historical accuracy, so, I feel compelled to point out an error in Sharpe’s Assassin… page 113, mention is made of “guineas” with St George on horseback on them. This would have been impossible in 1815, as the first gold coins issued with St George on were in 1816, and they were “sovereigns” of 20s not guineas of 21s. The guineas mostly in use in 1815 would have been the “Spade” guineas with a spade shaped shield design on the reverse. Hope this helps!
