Dear Mr Cornwell,
I just wanted to write and thank you for the Sharpe books. I have always been interested in history of all kinds and watched the Sharpe TV series as a child. Someone then bought me Sharpe’s Tiger for my 14th birthday. From then on I read every single book in order and my love of the books far exceeded my love of the TV series. To this day (aged 33) the Sharpe books are my ‘go to’ holiday books and I’ve re-read them too many times to count. As I commute into London I re-read them on the train (Currently reading Sharpe’s Battle again) and my love of these books never ceases with each read. I find the books inspiring. My copies of the books are tatty, full of crumbs between the pages from years of different lunch breaks but kept well! My favourites are Sharpe’s Enemy and Sharpe’s Waterloo and I cannot ignore Sharpe’s Eagle, but in truth they’re all brilliant reads. Can’t wait for Sharpe’s Command in October having read Assassin in a few days, resisting temptation to save it for a holiday!
So thank you for having such a positive impact on my life.
Kind Regards
Tom Hard
