Dear Mr Cornwell, With regard to the Napoleonic war period, I am interested to know whether you are aware of (you must be, of course) three British invasions which were two failures and one success. The first one was the invasion of Buenos Aires in 1806, by Lieutenant General John Whitlocke. The second one was the attack on Washington by British troops, led by Captain Ross. And the third one an attack on New Orleans, which was a total disaster. I am researching this subject for a novel and wonder what information you might have on the details re the above. Do you know of any biographies of Whitlocke and Ross…? Or could you please who could I approach for this? Any advice you can give me will be more than welcome. Thank you for reading me and please let me hear from you. Sincerely Tony Pell
