Mr. Cornwell,

I am pleased to have read most of your books and look forward to eventually reading the rest. They bring to life the events, culture, reality and those who lived in the times described.

I just reread Agincourt and found it better than I remembered. That is very good indeed.

The entire Sharpe series has been my favorite. It has been very difficult to choose my favorite as your writing makes it that way. But, Sharpe was my first of your books read, the longest series, very exciting and so it must be.

I, among many I am certain, appreciate the research you put into your work. It not only provides a solid base for the story, but links it firmly to the actual events you describe. You are exceptional for your characters, who clearly are creatures of their times. Not caricatures of our times, trying to imprint current values on those who lived long ago. Not only is it right, it is the truth. Which is rarely considered by many who attempt to imprint current values (right or wrong) on those who lived is vastly different times. I call that stupid.

Your writing is exceptionally well done. I regret you lost your editor and friend of many years. Editors as skilled as she are very hard to find. In fact, I don’t believe I have ever noticed an issue associated with editing in any of your books.

And clearly you enjoy writing. Thank you for all you have done sharing your talent with we your readers.

Sincerely,
