Mr. Cornwell, As a lifetime military man, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the historical fictions you write involving battles with characters of great renown. John Wayne, I’m sure, is feasting with some of them in heaven as I pen this. In particular, I’ve enjoyed The Saxon Chronicles. The raw emotion of simple lives made complex by their current politics, and the hypocrisies of the early church draw into stark contrast and relief those emotions in your characters. Have you done research into the linguistics of the Iron Age, or considered employing more of the early English language into these tales? I thank you for your development of early cultural fighting tactics in writing over the course of these tales.
