Mr Cornwell,

I am 67 years old, and never really read a complete, other than the Bible and a few kids books when I was young. One day a friend of my wife, who is an avid reader, sent me a box of books, all of which were historical war novels, except one which was a historical fiction about the American civil war written by Jeff Shaara. I was hooked, and read every book written my Jeff Shaara and his late father Michael.

I quickly determined that I was a huge fan of military historical fiction, especially book series. I read many books since that first civil war book, but after I came across your series of The Last Kingdom, I found my favorite writer. This series was the most exciting books I have ever read up to that point. I couldn’t believe how a writer could make me feel like was right there in the middle of the action. I could vividly visualize everything I read. However, I then started reading your Sharpe series and without a doubt this was the best series of books I have ever read. You are a masterful storyteller. It’s hard to put down anything you’ve written. I just finished your latest book, Sharpe’s Storm, and it saddened me to see that this might be the last book you write in this series. I certainly hope this isn’t the case and you are able to bring us to the end of Sharpe’s story as it pertains to the fight with the French, and the beginning of Sharpe’s new life after the war, but I certainly understand if this isn’t something you want, or able to do. Anyway, I would like to thank you for all your work you shared with us over the years. You actually were the reason I have found the enjoyment of reading, and I have learned a lot about the early British wars which I find fascinating.

Thank you again for the wonderful works you have shared, and I truly hope that we will see another book from you.
