Dear Sir Having just re-read Sharpe’s Siege (SPOILER ALERT!!) – and have just witnessed Ducos murder Maillot (sorry you feel like you’re there) in Sharpe’s Revenge and I’m already anticipating the farcical Court of Enquiry that Frederickson and Sharpe are going to be subjected to and I’m thinking “what a shame Hogan can’t be there to help Sharpe”. Is this the reason you killed Hogan off? With Sharpe’s revenge in mind?

Also what became of Jorge Vicente? I know he married Kate and they have a Daughter is he going to make a reappearance? I seem to remember there was an attraction between Kate and Sharpe and Sharpe’s biggest flaw is he appears to lose all sense of reason when he fancies a lady. Do you feel Sharpe would allow his head to be ruled by another part of his anatomy if he and Kate were left alone together? I feel she would probably be loyal to her husband, but I’m not so sure Sharpe would remember Jorge is his friend in the heat of the moment. Am I judging Sharpe unfairly? Or would it be a close call for him?
