Dear Mr Cornwell, My husband and I love to read your novels (haven’t read them all yet) and watch Sean Bean in the Sharpe films. Thank you for giving us the books and subsequently the films!! As an archaeologist, illustrator and freelance writer I am very happy with how your novels turned out on film. We were a bit sad though after watching Sharpe’s peril. We expected characters to have grown more over the years. I would love an exciting plot (I understand I can’t sent you one, which I indeed would have loved to!!)in which Sharpe meets Antonia again. On screen Theresa ( the best female actress seen in sharpefilms too ) was obviously his one true love. It can’t be he would forget about Antonia!! Of course her family wouldn’t encourage her to meet father Sharpe… I believe you are not only entertaining all of us with your novels but you are also inspiring boys/men with the nobleness, comradeship of the sympathetic (just because he is not perfect) Sharpe character! Re Sharpe TV series Sharpe’s Neglect: Poor little thing! Poor little Antonia Sharpe. Her mother, Teresa, shot dead. Her father rushes across Spain just to hold her in his arms and then what? Nothing. He never bothers to find her? Apparently he eventually settles in Normandy (is it?) – but never thinks to visit? I suggest a follow-up series: Sharpe’s Daughter. By around 1830 Antonia might start wandering through Europe to seek out her dad. Teresa’s father will have told her his name, that he’s a British soldier etc. Maybe she would end up in England, searching the taverns and asking at various barracks. Sharpe’s Daughter’s Mission might be a good episode to start with, and, once she finds her dad, Sharpe’s Showdown might conclude. Am I the only person to care what happens to Antonia?
