Hi Mr. Cornwell, Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you for having kept me thoroughly entertained since I first discovered Sharpe back in 1995. Since that point, I have read all of your books and anticipate each new one with the excitement usually reserved for under 10’s on Christmas Eve (and who have been gorging themselves on too much sugar)! I am an Essex man myself, having been born and raised in Chelmsford and I live there still, while working as a teacher in Eastwood. So I believe I am right in thinking I am very much from your old neck of the woods? I am thrilled whenever I read about characters in Sharpe, or the Saxon Stories who are from places just up the road from me! The question I have is two fold: firstly, are we going to see anymore Sharpe stories, and if so do you have any idea how many? I realise you must be asked that A LOT and I apologise for asking again. (If we are to have anymore Sharpe’s, what is the likelihood of reading about an Ensign Game, from Chelmsford, joining the South Essex and even saying a few words to Sharpe!!?? I think I am pushing my luck there!) Secondly, having written your own accounts on some of the great legends England has to offer (such as Arthur, which I have very fond memories of reading through the summer several years ago while under an oak and feeling a cool breeze), I wonder if you have considered writing your own take on perhaps the countries greatest ever legend…. No, not David Beckham. I refer to Robin Hood. Bernard Cornwell’s Robin Hood is a book I think millions would gladly see on the bookshelf!? Yours very sincerely and humbly, Oli Game.
