I live in Cape Canaveral, Florida and it is rumored that during the waning days of the American Revolution a naval battle was fought off Cape Canaveral w/ a British vessel, HMS Syble(Sibil?) which the Americans took as a victory. American vessel was escorting a ship laden w/ silver and I’d bet the British ships (3) were on their way to the Caribbean sugar islands. British Navy records indicate that HMS Syble came in under jury rig which indicates to me that everybody took a passing shot at one another and not a real victory.
