Hello Bernard, I recently read a version of the Robin Hood tale ~ needless to say it was not very good (as good as Bernard Cornwell my ****). What does intrigue me, and I’ll ask for your opinion, is that Hood is a legendary archer. Now forgive my memory, but from your stories of Nick Hook and the Thomas of Hookton series, it is made very clear the longbow is the weapon of a low born (not a knight). So, we end up with Robin Hood being an outlawed knight / landowner and yet he is the master of a peasants weapon (that required years of practise). Would this be a practical view on the Hood legend? Anything is possible I suppose, but the prospect of you telling the Hood tale with him being a Saxon archer, rather than a descendant of a Norman knight would be an appealing read! Any plans for a Hood story, or even Hereward the Wake? Thanks and regards, Dean Tams, Cumbria, England.
