Sir, Thank you for the combined months of sheer pleasure reading your many creations;your works fill an entire shelf in my library. You have the responsibility of having introduced me to quite a few notable characters but I’ll always be a Dickie Sharpe fan foremost. As a writer, I’d appreciate a clarification on one item: character development, or fleshing out if you will. When is enough actually too much? My poor players binge and purge on development and I never can find the right equation for fulfillment. I ask you this because all of your characters, minor to main, always seem to spring to life when I see your words. Obadiah Hakeswill and Richard Sharpe are great examples; you fill them out even more after I think I have a solid grasp of them and their personality/portrait. As a former Light Infantryman/Sniper, thank you for getting us right. We may not always be the prettiest, but, by God, we’ll scare the hell out of you! Hopefully, I’ll meet you in Atlanta some day and acquire your signature on some of my copies. Until then I remain, respectfully, your fan. Jeffrey Knotts
