Dear Bernard After reading Guy Dempsey’s book on Albuera (Worth a read if you have not read it btw) one name that does stand out is a certain Dulong (now Colonel) who went up against the Fusilier Brigade then commanded the French rearguard after the battle. I wondered If you were tempted to get Sharpe there and let them have another crack at each other again??? Besides which it is Albuera the toughest fight in the Peninsular war!!
And with it mentioned in Sharpe’s Waterloo about Fredrickson in Canada would you please consider writing about Fredrickson’s time in the war of 1812 it would surely be quite interesting. Yours sincerely Geraint
P.S Its quite old but F.C Beaston’s trilogy on Wellingtons Pyernnes campaigns and invasion of France is worth a read.
