Dear Bernard, I am in the process of reading your Sharpe Series for the second time. I actually own about 10 of your novels now and I am not just checking them out of the library. My point is I am now supporting you and helping you to continue writing with my meager resources. I recently read “Sharpe’s Siege”. All through the novel Jane is is a loving spouse. Love shines through in her every action. She is supportive of Richard. Richard goes on being Richard the warrior and she accepts that and dare I say is even proud of her warrior. Fast forward to the 1814 fall of France, she hates Richard, embezzles all his money from Victoria, Spain that Harper gave him and starts an adulterous affair with an aristocratic “fop” of a cavalry officer. Have I missed a novel? What the heck happened? Thankfully for males, you usually have to give a women cause before they turn on you like that. What was the cause?
Now that I am supporting you, I request you use some of those funds to buy a rifled barrel for that Baker and drill out the flash hole. Harris is “not Davey Crockett” and could never be with a Baker. I am thinking of that hilltop in Spain where he knocked out the artillery gunners at a 1000 yards. If YOU can hit a barn at 1000 yards, I will apologize. Bob Long
