Hello, Bernard. There was something rather interesting that I noted in the television programme, Sharpe’s Eagle. When the Colour Guard of the South Essex is massacred by French Dragoons after they cross the bridge and the Dragoons take the Colours, Major Lennox dies shortly afterwards and Sharpe says to Captain Leroy and Ensign Denny that at the Battle of Assaye, a whole army was ready to run but a major of the 78th took a step to his front and steadied the line. He says it was this man, Major Lennox who steadied the line and Wellington spoke of the same thing during a later scene at Talavera Headquarters. Was a character called Major Lennox really in your book, Sharpe’s Eagle? If so, did you forget to write about him steadying the line at Assaye in Sharpe’s Triumph, because when I read that book there was no mention of Major Lennox. I look forward to seeing your reply in the Your Questions section. Cheers! – James
