Dear Sir, I was recently reading an interview with JK Rowling in which she had mentioned that when she writes about her famous characters she is not influenced by the young actors that portray them in the movies. Given the amount of references to the Sharpe’s tv series that are included in the questions you so kindly answer on your website, I am compelled to ask… Is your inner eye influenced by Sean Bean? I confess myself a fan of your books first and like to think of him as portrayed on some of the earlier covers of the US editions (Sharpe’s Enemy comes to mind). Thanks for the wonderful description of the picture drawn of him by the French soldier in Sharpe’s Escape, I really enjoyed it. He was quite a sight. Also (and I apologize for going on)…. Will you ever let us know what’s become of Antonia? A short story perhaps? Is she bold and daring like her parents? I hate to think that the daughter of such characters would end up as some Spanaird’s little wife having twelve children and keeping house. I am sure you have a clear picture in your mind of what her future was like…. Care to share? (one can only hope….) Thank you for answering my silly questions. Your are a wonderful storyteller. Elise

As a great female fan of the Sharpe books ( I have read them all several times and always avidly await the next one ) there is one thing that has always made me wonder: do you know what happened to Sharpe’s daughter, the one he had with Teresa and left behind in Spain? This is the sort of thing which bothers us women! Ann McRae
