Dear Sir, I would firstly like to thank you for the rather large amount of pleasure you and your books have given me over the years. I am especially fond of the Warlord Chronicles, particularly it’s depiction of Merlin and Lancelot (I never liked the latter. Any man who sounded so Perfect and then carried out an affair with his best friend’s wife obviously enjoys rather too cosy a relationship with his Public Relations department. Entertaining as it is to lambast Lambast Lancelot, the real reason I wished to contact you was to ask if you have ever read “The Lantern Bearers” by Rosemary Sutcliff? I understand from previous answers to questions that you have read her work before (Indeed, I would be astonished and obscurely dissapointed if you had not!) and wished to know if you had read this novel, which I regard as something of a predecessor to your own Chronicles.
