I recently read a Sharps novel set in Spain as the French began a headlong rout back into France. Sharpe was busy saving some girl or another from a renegade guerilla…I thing it involved the protagonists tied together with a length of chain and a couple of long knives…meanwhile the ever practical SGT Harper was looting French jewels from an abandoned coach. He gave 1/2 of the jewels to Sharpe, who eventually squandered this fortune on another woman when peace broke out some months later. My question how did Sharpe recover his fortune? Bob Long
