Mr.Cornwell, I assume my question from last month has fallen under the aegis of “don’t send me any plot ideas”. Sorry about that- I guess I may have come across wrong. Please allow me to re-phrase it? Did Thomas of Hookton fight in the Battle of Sluys (Sluis)? If so, do you have any plans to tell that story?

Also, I wanted to ask what you thought were some of the best sources for learning about the nomenclature of 18th and 19th century artillery pieces? I was reading Sharpe’s Waterloo where you stated that a 6-pounder couldn’t be double-shotted because it’s barrel would burst-how did you discover that? Also are there any sources of military terms and tactics that would be useful for a writer to read? I’m trying to get a better grasp of how an army moves on a battlefield-when did you first begin to get a feel for it? Thanks Again for your time. You are the best thing since bread came sliced. I can’t wait for Sharpe’s Fury ! R.Kulb
