Dear Bernard I recently read about the siege of Tarifa at the end of 1811 in southern Spain and the brilliant victory of 4000 British troops defeating 13000 French troops under Victor I had to write in to ask if you would ever consdier parachuting Sharpe into the siege for a book. It was a brilliant victory yet apart from Oman no other Peninsular war historian (as far as I know) has even given it a mention. While there would certainly be enough time for Sharpe to get there and back for Cuidad Rodrigo. Besides which it was Victors last action in Spain before he was recalled for Russia and capped off a trilogy of defeats including Talavera and Barossa and since Sharpe has been or will be at the other two would it not be fair for Sharpe too cap off his hat-trick. Yours sincerely Geraint
